The opinions expressed here are my own and do not necessarily reflect that of my current or past associations, of course. Those opinions are informed by my experiences in independent schools and around independent school leaders in a variety of roles over the years: as teacher, admission and development officer, division head, head of school, consultant, association board member, and association director. I am influenced, as well, I’m sure, by my experiences in my role as parent of two very different learners served well by their independent schools and, in recent years, in my role as head’s wife.
My blog banner features Socks, feline resident of the White House in the Clinton era. For those who wish to quibble, I acknowledge that Socks is at a lectern rather than, truly, a podium. Credit for the photo goes to the U.S. National Archives.
In considering a title, I Googled a number of ideas, including “podium thumps.” I found the results mildly amusing, as you might, too. May my personal podium thumps raise the standard for the phrase, and may my ponderings be anything but ponderous!
